Project overview

"The Forbidden Ceremony" is a large-scale live-action film and stage play with the Forbidden City as the main background. It tells the story of the Forbidden City's more than 580 years of hardships, snow and rain from the establishment of the Forbidden City to the founding of the People's Republic of China. The theater is located in the scenic area from Xihuamen to the Manchu and Han seats. The theater has a construction area of about 4,000 square meters and a total investment of more than 50 million. The show is 40 minutes long and has about 140 cast members.


The performance is based on historical events during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the founding of the People's Republic of China. It uses stage performances combined with special effects movies, large LED displays, scenery strips, multi-layered curtains, lifting and moving tracks, sound and light special effects and other elements, with a voice-over plot. As well as the real performances of the actors, it reproduces the wonderful and meaningful history of the Forbidden City. The play reflects the historical changes of the Forbidden City and the rise and fall of dynasties through three ceremonies with singing and dancing, unprecedented and unprecedented - the Chengzu Enthronement Ceremony of the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Qianlong Dynasty Congratulation Ceremony and the New China Founding Ceremony.
